[ Hair pulled back and resting over her shoulder because, hello, it's hot no matter the time of day, she greets him at the door with a friendly smile. She hadn't really expected him to want to come and deliver the fan on his birthday of all days but, then again, he certainly seems the type to go out of his way for others so, maybe she shouldn't be all that surprised. Held between her hands, however, is a box of chocolate chip cookies. Unopened. Holding them up to show, she purses her lips, a shrug of her shoulders. ]
It's not exactly a cake but, I figured I should give you something on your birthday of all days.
Chocolate chip? They're my favorite. Thank you, Jean.
[ He smiles wide, and then sort of tries to exchange the cookies for the fan in his hand. It's not a big fan, just a little one to put on the table. Kind of looks like it's from the 1950s. More clunk than fan. ]
[ Aka no telepathy used to figure that out. But with a smile on her lips, she does a little maneuvering herself with the exchange of the fan for the cookies when a thought touches her and she finds herself looking to Steve a little curiously. ]
You've been here for awhile. [ From what she recalls him telling her. ] I was wondering if you actually might be able to help me figure something out? [ Beat ] I got something in my basket and I'm not too sure what it is.
[ Better to ask someone she trusts than ask the masses over the Fluid. But she lets him in and carefully sets the fan down onto the couch as she slips into her bedroom on the first floor, only to return a moment later with this in her hand, filled with a black liquid that looks like ink. ]
I probably should. [ Beat ] I sort of asked the basket for help with something- I know that sounds a little crazy. But this is what appeared in the basket when I did. I just have no idea what it is.
[ It's a fair enough question and one she mulls over with a faint smile on her lips, fingers tapping against the glass bottle she holds. The last thing she wants is for Steve to look at her differently. ]
I have... difficulty with my powers sometimes. Controlling them. I wanted a safety precaution. Knowing how this place can be.
[ Well that's certainly something he can't just walk away from without clarifying there. Though, then again, he doesn't seem the type to either lie nor exaggerate. ]
You're... a hundred?
[ A blink of her eyes, she finds her arms crossing in front of her then. ]
It's a good thing I didn't get you a cake then. That thing would be filled with nothing but candles.
[ Definitely not the sort of assumption she would have made about him but, considering the various worlds and realities and even timelines people seem to come from around here, she can't exactly say she's shocked to the core at the thought. So instead, she smiles to him. ]
Well you look great for your age, if you don't mind my saying so.
[ A bit of a tease, maybe. ]
But I'm sure you get that a lot when you let people know.
[ With her own lips still pressed into a smile, she laughs softly at his words because, well, he's right. ]
I've noticed when it comes to that. [ A beat. ] The not knowing what's going to happen part.
[ In case she needed to clarify that. With a glance over to the fan he brought, she gently pulls it over with her mind which, being a telekinetic, means she makes it drift on over through the air, coming to take it in her hand once close enough. ]
Thank you for the fan though and... I hope you like the cookies.

But really, it's still your birthday.
You should still celebrating and not delivering fans.

[ He takes one of the cookies out to eat, and then follows her where she might need to go to find her basket. ]
I've gotten a couple of 'em. What is it?

Have you seen something like this before?

[ Because it definitely looks that way. ]

--If it's not too personal.
[ But that might help explain whatever this is. ]

[ He looks at the bottle and raises an eyebrow. ]
Guess trying to test out what it does might pose a problem.

[ To which she smiles a bit and offers a shrug after. ]
I'll just have to... figure it out. But thank you for at least looking. You can't be too sure about the things around here.

[ And this sort of thing seems too dangerous to leave to chance. ]

[ Not that she knows about The Avengers or anything. Other than Ant Man. ]
But- really. Don't worry about it today of all things? It's your birthday and you should still be enjoying it. Not working or anything.

[ But there are magic folk where he's from, he just uh, hasn't met them. ]
I'll call you tomorrow about it, and then you can stop reminding me that I'm a hundred today.
[ He doesn't say this with any bite. ]

But I... guess even if I missed out on a lot, back home... it'd be a hundred years since I was born.

Anyway, I hope the heat really isn't too bothersome.
Sometimes here.. you just don't know what's going to happen.

And he's glad that she feels comfortable enough to use them around him.
It makes him give a warm smile. ]
No problem. And, I'm sure I will.
Thanks, Jean.
And happy fourth.
